We are delighted, at long last, to be able to share our partnership with local professional photographer, Jonathan Turner, to create a time-limited online exhibition of our community. We are grateful to Leeds Inspired for supporting us to make this possible.
With this photography project, we are inspired by the local history of portrait taking by photographers like Gerald Donne and as demonstrated in the recent exhibitions of Eulogy and Back to Life by the Jamaica Society. We are inviting friends, families and neighbours to book a slot to make their own studio self-portrait using a camera wireless trigger during our ‘pose-and-play’ sessions.
Anyone who would like a copy of their photograph is welcome to have one and we welcome everyone to take part. We aim for this to be an opportunity to not only strengthen connections in our community in Chapeltown after the restrictions of 2020 but also to have a positive start to 2021 and create something that we can share with loved ones - including all those people we have seen less of or haven't seen at all. We will be sharing all the details in May but do get in touch if you have any questions.
